Once more, I greet you filled with the great anticipation that the Great Lakes African American Writers Conference (GLAAWC; pronounced “glossy”) brings! As we enter our seventh year, I am excited to announce that our two keynote speakers will join us live and in person! So, we are returning to our pre-pandemic form.
First, join us on Saturday at our new location in the Auditorium of the Lakeshore Branch of the Cleveland Public Library behind the Memorial-Nottingham Branch. You may know this location as the Auditorium of the old Villa Angela Catholic Girls High School. The address is 17133 Lakeshore Blvd., Cleveland, OH 44110.
We’ll start our day as we always do–with African drumming, Lift Every Voice and Sing, opening remarks, and then our keynote speakers will take the stage, including:

Remember that Kimberla and Cherise will be joining us in person.
After a rousing day with Kimberla, Cherise, Legacy African American Publishers, Playwrights and more, GLAAWC will host, virtually, for the second time, the actors of the Pittsburgh-based DEMASKUS Theater Collective on Sunday, October 6 (time TBD). The creatives of the DEMASKUSTheater Collective will present Colored to Black: Pittsburgh Come Through the Family BBQ.
